Aquila Game Reserve in Cape Town is a luxury four star establishment. Accommodation options at Aquila are premier, luxury or standard chalets.
There is a 300 pax restaurant and smaller outdoor boma restaurant. Both serve steamy buffet-style meals, cooked by world class culinary fundies. Extending from the restaurant is a cosy cigar bar and lounge. Aquila has a 35 meter salt water swimming pool, with a trendy pool bar. Aquila Safari Lodge is a 4 star establishment in the Southern Karoo. The reserve is a 10,000 hectare conservancy in the southern Karoo, and home to the big 5 legends of the wilderness - elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino.
Aquila Game Reserve has two large swimming pools, each with a pool bar overlooking the reserve. There are large dining areas, and cosy cigar bars and lounges. Aquila has a library, curio shop and children’s entertainment area.
Touws River
Aquila Game Reserve is the closest private game reserve to Cape Town, being a short drive from the city. Aquila is located in the historic Touws River town, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo.
Karoo
The Karoo is on the national garden route. Setting the scene are spellbinding landscapes, carpets of wild flowers and wildlife. It is a place of wide spaces, immense horizons, craggy mountain ranges, jutting hills, an ancient seabed, and a massive clear sky at night.

Aquila Private Game Reserve has gone to massive efforts and expense to source and re-introduce wildlife into the Cape region. Aquila is the proud finalist of an Imvelo Award for our Social Involvement Programme. Aquila provides over 300 jobs to the previously disadvantaged community of Touws River. Aquila also sponsors the local cricket,soccer and rugby teams as well as a full time school teacher. Over the past 4 years, Aquila has invested a staggering amount into the Reserve and in doing so has been in a position to benefit the local community.

Standard Luxury accommodation is a collection of semi detached units. Chalets have thatch roofs and feature exterior stone work. Each unit is a unique contemporary African design. In keeping with the design and flow of the architecture at Aquila, the Standard Cottages do not compromise on your experience or the standard of luxury. Each has its own patio, corner bath and outdoor rock shower. Cottages are equipped with mini bars, air-conditioning, fans and feature ‘coal’ stoves for the extra bit of warmth and cosiness in winter months.

There are five premier luxury chalets, each a unique style and equally exclusive. Chalets are privately situated and have been built into the hillside of the reserve. Chalets combine natural rock elements, wood and stone - creating a back-to-nature ambience. The en suite bathrooms include; twin hand basins, a toilet, bathtub, and outdoor shower. The honeymoon suite boasts a Jacuzzi.
Each unit opens up onto a private patio, which is perfect for frosty cocktails on hot summer nights. On colder evenings, most guests curl up on the plush furniture, in front of the chalet log fire. Premier safari lodge accommodation is wonderfully charming - a bush pleasure rarity.

Aquila Spa & Treatment Complex
Join us in our of our newly opened African spa using natural products that harness the medicinal powers of indigenous plants, flowers and herbs and are free from petrochemicals, synthetic ingredients, colourants and preservatives. Featuring; 2 large heated indoor pools, steam room, sauna, nail bar, 10 treatment rooms, a couples or group treatment room and an outdoor pool.
FREE SPA OPTION - For 2 & 3 Night stays you will have free access to the Spa Facilities- Treatments are optional at an additional cost. For all other guests the access fee is R250 per person per day and the first treatment booked will be discounted by this amount.

Aquila Game Reserve Map and Directions:
Follow the N1 highway from Cape Town for approximately 130km. The road will take you pass Paarl, through the Huguenot toll road, passed Worcester, De Doorns and through the Hex River Valley. Approximately 30 km after De Doorns and just passed the road sign indicating “10km to Touws River”, you will get to the R46 turnoff to Ceres. Take the turnoff to the left. Follow the road for approximately 3km. You will find the Aquila Private Game Reserve main entrance on your left hand side.
